Daily budget calculator
You already know roughly what you can spend on the whole trip. This turns that into the number that actually matters day to day: how much is left for food, fun and getting around once the fixed costs are paid. It runs in your browser and saves nothing.
Everything you're comfortable spending on this trip
The whole stay, not per night
Insurance, tours booked ahead, parking
Daily spending cap
per day, after fixed costs
Why a daily cap works
A total budget is easy to ignore. A thousand euro feels like plenty on day one, so you spend freely, and by day five the maths gets uncomfortable. A daily cap fixes that by shrinking the decision to something you can hold in your head. You are not managing a big abstract number any more, just today.
The calculation is straightforward. Take your total budget, subtract the costs that are already locked in, and spread what is left evenly across your days. That is the amount you can spend today on everything that isn't already paid for. Come in under it and tomorrow gets a little more room. Go over and you will see it straight away, while there is still time to adjust.
What counts as a fixed cost
Fixed costs are the things you have already committed to or will definitely pay: flights, trains, your accommodation for the whole stay, travel insurance, any tours booked in advance, airport parking. Everything else is daily spending, which is exactly what the cap is there to guide.
Staying under it without counting every coffee
A daily cap only helps if you can see where you stand against it, and that is the part people skip. Totting up receipts each evening rarely lasts past the second night. The trick is to log each expense the moment it happens, so the remaining amount is always right there. That five second habit is the whole difference between a cap you actually use and a number you set and forget.
